Newborn Essentials

As a mom of two, one of which is 4 months old, I am constantly asked by friends and family for the “must have” baby stuff. Whether you are shopping for a baby shower or preparing for your newborn, these are the items that have made my life easier and brought the most joy to my every day mom life. While nothing is better than the joy of snuggling your new baby, there are some items that make a world of difference, trust me!

1. Diaper Genie – Keeps diapers from stinking up your house! Gotta have it!

2. Baby Brezza– The keurig of baby bottles. Hit the button and bottle is instantly made and at the exact right temperature!

3. Corkcicle Canteen– Keeps water warm on the go. Making a bottle is sooo much easier with warm water!

4. Boppy– Babies gotta have a place to lay around whether you are feeding them or just putting them down, you’ll be thankful for this one.

5. Swaddleme velcro swaddle- Let’s face it, you or your husband or both are going to struggle with swaddling. put the baby in, velcro, and voila, baby is snug, happy, asleep, and quiet. your welcome

6. Diapers- Ok, everyone asks what kind of diapers to buy and it is sooo tricky. I recommend Hello Bello Diapers for everyday wear (cute, affordable, soft, yay!) Sometimes your baby is in between sizes, use Pampers swaddlers for the in between because they run a little bigger than hello bello but not as big as the following size. Once your baby is size 3, buy either hello bello night time or pampers night time diapers. It is worth it and they stay dry all night! Never heard of overnight diapers, look for them, and use them at night for sure!

7. Reverse Zip PJs— That is right you want the footed pajamas, but get the ones with the zipper by the feet! why? diaper changes are soooo much easier! unzip half way, pull the legs out, change diaper, stick legs back and zip. speedy changes are a must!

8. Wipes- lots of them! –What are the best wipes, I’ve tried tons and my all time favorite is still Huggies Natural Care wipes! They are soft, strong, and don’t stick together. Important to be able to quickly pull out of the dispenser and not spend the extra two minutes trying to separate the wipes out of the container

9.Thermometer– Get a digital forehead one!

10. Owlet Smart Sock– uses pulse oximetry to track your infant’s heart rate and oxygen levels while they sleep. If you are a worry mom, and you will be at least for the first baby, get this!

11. Piano bottom playmat– at first, I was skeptical, but baby loves the hanging toys and kicking the piano. As they grow, they can sit up and play the piano portion. keeping a child entertained is a must and this does the trick!

12. Mustela Baby Wipes or Face Wash- Baby Acne is a real thing. This helps.

13. Boudreaux’s Butt Paste– Best every day diaper rash cream! get it!

14. A&D and Destin– There will come a day when your child gets a horrible diaper rash. Mix these two together 50/50 and apply.

15. Boogie Mist and Boogie Wipes- Boogers are real, the mist helps them come out and the wipes help you wipe them away gently.

16. Baby doggie bags!– These truly look like doggie poo bags but are for babies. They are a must have for your diaper bag. When soiled diapers and clothes happen, put them in a bag and deal with them.

17.Johnson and Johnson Hand & Face Wipes– You will not be bathing your baby every day. Not time, nor is it recommended, but before bed you will want to wipe them down to keep them clean in between baths. These do the trick!

18. Nail Files– don’t forget nail files. I am not brave enough to clip, so just file them down.

19. A Bath Tub– Yes, you have to bathe your child, get a baby tub like this one. I know there are tons of options. I like this one.

20. Bibs– Get a variety of bibs, but be sure to get some drool bibs and at least one bib with a teether attached. Just do it!
